How Steel Framing Works
The concept of using steel frames in the construction
of houses and buildings is by no means new. In Europe in Australia and in United States, the steel frame building method has
been used for over 25 years in houses, commercial buildings and other structures. What is new, however, is the way Eco
Homes & Buildings Co WLL uses and applies steel frame construction methods to a wide range of applications.
The Product
Galvanized sheet steel is the base material for light-gauge steel framing
and is produced by the steel mills. The sheet steel is roll-formed into the final profiles used for framing. The sheets of
steel are zinc coated (galvanized) to prevent oxidation and corrosion. Eco Homes & Buildings Co WLL provides
excellent design flexibility due to the inherent strength of steel, which allows it to span over a longer distance than wood,
and also resists wind and earthquakes.
Design
The design of the
house or of any building is developed using sophisticated computer design software. Once designed, the plan is sent through
to the sophisticated software in the Eco-System Machine Computer.
Eco-System Machine and
Software
Flat galvanised sheeting (0,90 mm to 1,6 mm) is continually fed from a roll feeder into
the Eco-System Machine By feeding the flat steel through a series of rollers, the shape is changed into the extremely
strong ,,C" ,,U'' ,,L" section which is used for all of our steel framing. The design software instructs
the Eco-System Machine software as to how long each component of the frame should be. At the same time, the Eco-System Machine
is instructed where the service holes, rivet holes, flats, notches are to be placed. These are essential for the accurate
erection of the frame.
Components
The individual components, or
struts for the steel frame, are then manufactured by the Computerized Eco-System Machine
These components are produced
rapidly in a logical sequence, preparing them for the assembly of the eco steel frame
Assembly
The components are simply and quickly assembled into eco steel frame panels. No specialised tools are required apart
from a rivet gun. The resultant steel frames are light weight, dimensionally accurate and easily handled by a single person.
Erection
The completed steel frames are then connected together
to form the complete building frame, resulting in a finished product that is strong, straight, level and has square corners.
As a result of the accuracy with which the components are manufactured, the completed steel frame is accurate to within a
few millimetres.
Eco Steel Frames are safe, there is no mould, mildew or rotting associated with
timber frames, there are no infestations of borer or termites. Steel frames are non-flammable, will not crack, splinter or
warp. Steel is 100% recyclable. (The framing for a 250 sq .m. home can be made using the steel from 6,5 recycled cars). Eco
Steel Framing is the future of any residencial or commercial building
